The Word Bank section offers significant words from the world of business and finance. Under OALD Biz & Finance 250 you will find a list of the Oxford Advanced Learners' Dictionary list of 250 business and finance words. Each word has a definition from the dictionary followed by a translation used in this context. It also has samples of usage. By using the media player, you can hear the single-word pronunciation as well as the word pronounced in the context sentences. (Voice: male, US English).

If you would like to hear other dialects, copy the text and paste it to the AT&T Labs text-to-speech editor.

Under Commonly Mistranslated Words, you will find so-called 'false friends' that can cause problems when translating from German to English.

Word of the Month

Feature creep, creeping featurism or featureitis is the ongoing expansion or addition of new features in a product, such as in computer software. Extra features go beyond the basic function of the product and so can result in over-complication rather than simple design. (Source: Wikipedia)
