Accommodation

Are you looking for accommodation in a young, international environment? We offer affordable accommodation for international degree-seeking and exchange students. As housing in Lucerne is scarce, students are advised to start looking for accommodation well ahead of time.

Exchange students can access information about accommodation options during their application process via Mobility Online Tool. Degree seeking students can have a look at the accommodation options here. When the reservation period opens, the students that have received their Acceptance Letter are able to book a room. Furnished rooms normally cost between CHF 500 - 840 per month. Please take note, HSLU's student accommodations are limited and a room is not garantueed. During the reservation period, the rooms are allocated on a first come-first served basis. 

Housing rules I:
Living in a shared flat means being considerate of your co-tenants’ needs.
Tenants in a shared flat may have wildly different lifestyles, behaviors and cooking habits. While this poses a challenge for a peaceful coexistence, it is also a great chance to get to know new people and cultures.

Housing rules II:
The respective tenant is cleaning the private rooms. A cleaning company cleans kitchen, bath, toilet and communal spaces once a week. However, it requires self-organization to keep the communal spaces clean. Each tenant needs to do his or her share of the household chores and recycling duties. Ideally, the tenants draw up a weekly roster for the various chores.

If there's no accommodation option through HSLU housing available anymore, you'll have to find an accommodation on your own. Here you'll find a link collection of further housing options. 
Further accommodation facilities can be found on the blackboards in the lobby of the school buildings, in local newspapers or sometimes through social media as well.

Car Parking:
Most housing options do not provide car parking spaces for students. There are very limited parking slots on the campuses of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Renting a parking space costs approx. CHF 120.-/month or more. We strongly advise you to travel by public transportation to Switzerland.
