Introductory Weeks
The Introductory Weeks of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts are designed to assist incoming exchange and international degree-seeking students at the start of their studies and introduce them to life in Lucerne. The Introductory Weeks take place in the two weeks before the semester begins. This upcoming semester, the Introdoctury Weeks will take place between the 31st August and 12th September 2026. They consist of language courses, the Get started in Lucerne - Workshops and social activities, which are carried out by the European Student Network (ESN).
The workshop leaders and the organisers of the Introductory Weeks will help and advise students during their first two weeks in Switzerland. The aim is to answer all of the students’ questions, to prepare and inform them in the best possible way and, finally, to give them the opportunity to really enjoy their first days abroad and make new friends. You will find the program below.

The Get started in Lucerne - Workshops provide all of the important information for international students to successfully start their studies at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and to get along quickly with the everyday life in Switzerland. The first part of the Get started in Lucerne workshop takes place online on 4th of July 2026. The second workshop is on-site on Saturday, 12th September 2026.

For incoming exchange students the participation is mandatory.
You come to Switzerland from far away and your biggest fear is to speak English or German? Maybe you come from an English-speaking country and do not yet know any German? Maybe your English skills are not yet up to date to immerse yourself in the English language studies? Or maybe you just want to learn a little bit of German to communicate with your fellow students from Lucerne or other local people?
Then this is your chance, we offer an intensive German A1 beginner course or an intensive Intercultural and English Competence course to make you feel comfortable with your language skills.
